Cultivating a Heart of Gratitude through Praying for Those without God’s Word

Well, you made it. 2020 is almost over.

Take a quick look back; think about what it’s taken for you to survive. Could you have made it through 2020 without God’s Word? How would you have handled 2020 if you didn’t know God? What if you didn’t have his Word as a lifeline?

3 Practices of Gratitude and Prayer

1. Write a list of how Scripture has strengthened you.

What specific verses did you turn to often this year? Look back through your journal or Bible app and compile what you highlighted and prayed through the most. What truths were you able to pull out and cling to in uncertain times? What was revealed to you about God’s character through Scripture?

2. Pray for the millions without Scripture.

People all over the world have had to traverse this year without a single verse of Scripture. Can you imagine how much more difficult this year may have felt for people without the hope of God’s Word?

200 million people, representing around 2,000 language groups, are waiting for the greatest gift–the very words from God that helped you through a global pandemic. Lift these individuals up in prayer and ask for doors to open so they can receive God’s Word in their language.

3. Share the need for Bible translation with others.

There is power when two or more unite in prayer.

As a family or in a small group with your church, can you spend some intentional time this week to pray together for the acceleration of Bible translation?

Now, more than ever, people need the hope of God’s Word. Millions have never heard Scripture proclaim, “he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV) in their own language. They don’t have his words, “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3 NIV).

Your prayers can change that!
