You were just getting used to summer vacation, and now it’s already back-to-school season for the children in your life.

During any old school year, the transition back to school is stressful enough—buying backpacks, adjusting work schedules, and soothing kids’ fears about not making friends on the first day.

But this year is even harder. The unknowns of COVID-19’s impact on this coming school year can transform even the calmest person into a ball of anxiety. Whether the kids in your life are going back to in-person learning, being homeschooled, or participating in remote learning, you care about their safety and well-being.

Beyond your hopes for their education, you long to see the young people in your life thrive in all areas. You want to see them grow alongside a community of loving friends. You pray they will mature in their faith, their bodies will grow strong, and they will discover how to tackle life’s problems with grace and wisdom.

During this time of growth and transition, you can find peace and direction in God’s Word.

Will you set aside a few moments to pray through Scripture?

As the next generation of leaders continues learning, growing, and using their God-given gifts, let’s take some time to cover them and their teachers in prayer. And, while we pray through Scripture as Jesus showed us, let’s also lift up the kids around the world who are waiting for Scripture in their language.

Praying for the Next Generation

Dear Lord, thank you for trusting us with the great privilege and responsibility of guiding and nurturing the kids in our lives. Lead us as we lead them. Show us how to encourage them with the wisdom and strength found in your Word. Help us model a life that is pleasing to you.

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. I have tried hard to find you—don’t let me wander from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. — Psalm 119:9–11

God, as many of us face the beginning of a new school year, remind us that you will take care of us and our children. Help them grow closer to you. No matter what happens, help us hold onto your peace.

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left. — Matthew 19:14–15

Lord, thank you for loving every single child. Show us how to invest in our kids—and kids around the world—in a way that glorifies you. We hold onto your promises. Amen.

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. — Proverbs 22:6

Right now, millions of children live each day without a Bible in their language. Invest in the next generation by giving kids like yours the gift of Scripture. Will you join us?
