Unity for the New Year
“Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit. … For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.” — Ephesians 4:3–4 (NLT)
There is no “secret sauce” in Bible translation. When the process is working, we share it. When we have innovative ideas, we give them away. When God is at work, we invite people in.
If you’re wondering how Seed Company fits within the movement of organizations bringing God’s Word to every language, this is the answer that comes to mind. The sauce isn’t secret. (And it’s not just because our CEO Davis Powell likes to tell people that. Although he does.)
In God’s kingdom, there have always been epic stories of how He works when His people—in all their beautifully diverse glory—come together to serve His plan. Walls fall, promised lands are entered, temples are rebuilt, disciples are made, fishes and loaves are multiplied, churches are planted, and the gospel spreads.
At its best, Bible translation reflects the nature of the church that God’s Word brings together—a display of openhanded collaboration. Over centuries, the Bible has been translated into 784* languages and counting because God has inspired people from across the globe, with different skills and viewpoints and cultures, to be involved.
Today, the mission is progressing because we’ve joined forces. Seed Company is grateful to be a part of illumiNations, a network of 11 Bible translation organizations with the collective goal of seeing Scripture translated into languages everywhere.
This unity looks like 11 CEOs committed to meeting regularly and praying together. It looks like distributing resources across teams. Software and translation tools made free and “open source” so they can be widely used and built upon. A communication hub connecting experts. Data and project updates shared to reduce duplication. Faithful partners worldwide coming alongside each other in support.
Whatever role Seed Company plays, we celebrate every milestone—the verses completed, the books distributed, the Bibles dedicated, the people changed by the God who speaks their language. All Scripture for all people is a big vision. And it will take us working in tandem to get there.
So, maybe there is no secret sauce when it comes to the work we do. But to name one that makes the work flavorful, it’s only right that we highlight unity. After all, our mission is to see a day when people from every tribe and every nation are joined together in praising the one true God of the Bible.
Scripture translation is a reminder that the journey to that day is already uniting us in the process.
Pray with us for continued unity across teams, organizations, and partnerships as we work with a shared vision to translate Scripture in 2026.
