The Urgent Mission of Persecuted Christians
Wherever they go, they’re being watched.
For Asit* Christians, surveillance is assumed. Believers are threatened by the religious system that controls their nation’s government. Following Jesus puts them at risk of imprisonment, torture, or death.
In this country, peace is in short supply. Shortages and signs of war overwhelm the people. But many who heard the gospel have chosen to place their trust in Christ. He has become their peace, and they want to know Him better through the words they know exist in the Bible.
It just hasn’t been translated into their language yet.
But Bible translators are making progress. They’re doing the work in secret, putting their lives at risk because their longing to have God’s Word in their heart language outweighs their fear of punishment or death.

Why do we at Seed Company want all Scripture for all people, even when it’s dangerous?
Because every verse matters.
For one woman on the team, it was Psalm 63:1. She heard it through an audio recording:
“O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.” (NLT)
The writings of King David, penned thousands of years ago, seemed like they could’ve been written by an Asit Christian today. “The souls of my country’s people thirst for God’s presence and His justice,” she said, “for a bit of peace after all these years of pain and suffering.”
Tomorrow doesn’t hold a promise of earthly hope for Asit believers. “Every day, we hear and see worse news,” she said, but every day, the translation team prays together and goes out into different parts of the city, telling others who God is. “Our duty as believers during these painful days is not to drown in grief or be swept up by distressing and unreliable news but to spread God’s Word even more, and to see these times as an opportunity.”
These believers don’t yet have the full Bible in their language, but they are putting their lives on the line because accessing all of God’s Word is so urgent a mission. With every verse they translate, they grow more familiar with the God who has been watching over them their whole lives—not to harm them, but to pour out His love and grace.
Bible translation for persecuted Christians cannot slow down. Will you pray with us for protection over the Asit translators and for peace in their nation as they translate God’s Word?
