You’re invited to engage in God’s Word in a deeper way than ever before this year! In a worldwide movement, 2020 has been proclaimed “Year of the Bible.”

By engaging more than 20,000 churches and ministry organizations in more than 100 nations, Christian leaders expect “Year of the Bible” to become one of the most collaborative movements in Christian history. They anticipate this yearlong challenge to achieve the greatest global Bible connection of the century as billions follow the call to invest in God’s Word and experience his presence in a deeper way.

Ideas to Help Make 2020 Your “Year of the Bible”

1. Share God’s Word with a friend.

Time in God’s word is a great way to learn and grow together. Ask someone to partner with you. It can be as simple as a commitment to read a passage one or two times a week and discuss what you learned with one another.

2. Journal your time in Scripture.

Write down an entire verse, or just portions of it that jump out to you. Then, journal your thoughts about that verse. What does God want you to understand about what you’re reading and how it relates to your relationship with him?

3. Give the Bible a voice.

Changing the way you engage in God’s Word can sometimes give you a new perspective of how we hear and experience him. Share the experience by asking someone to read to you, or choose your favorite version from one of the many audio Bible apps.

4. Pray through Scripture.

Psalms is a wonderful place to start if you’d like to pray God’s Word back to him in a form of worship and thanksgiving.

A Challenge and a Vision

Seed Company’s President and CEO Samuel Chiang shared with Seed Company’s global colleagues within the first few days of the new year:

We mark this new year and decade of the 20s with anticipation: how will God work with us and use Seed Company as one of his instruments? In the midst of much societal noises and disquiet around us, here’s a word for all of us to consider: “conversant”—an adjective meaning “knowledge” or “experience with.”

He then shared a question that deserves our consideration: “How conversant are we with God?” In other words, how well do you know him, and how well do you relate to him?

“Year of the Bible” puts a focus on God’s Word and engagement, yet not everyone has the opportunity to experience God in their language. Many still don’t know that God does, indeed, speak their language.

We are excited about this movement because it’s a wonderful opportunity to shine the light on our individual needs for a relationship with God, and it also reminds us to share God’s Word with those who remain without Scripture.

Seed Company is passionate about beginning translation of God’s Word into every heart language that needs it by 2025.

It is our hope that “Year of the Bible” will shine the light on getting Scripture to those who don’t have it in a language they understand.
